Fáilte go Uí Bhreasail!!

This is the personal website of an Irish historian to post about games and history and stuff

I have no real plans on what to do with this website at the moment, but I enjoyed looking at all the different cool websites on neocities for a few months now and thought I would use this as a space to teach myself about some basic web design. Hopefully it begins to fill out and imporve the more I add to it and such.

The name Hy Brasil is a reference to a non-existant island off of the coast of Ireland that appears in several medieval and early-modern sources, though since I'm a Nineteenth-century guy I know little about it honestly. I thought it would be fun to imagine it as a secret extra county of Ireland with it's own distinct (modern) culture, history, Gaeltacht, etc. and for this to be it's website, but I think that dream is very far away from my web design skills at current.

I am currently working on getting an "About Me" page up and running, but for now you can see some of my general interests on the side-bar, but hopefully there will be more as it comes to me. I also love and own a lot of maps, so hopefully I will be able to decorate the site with photos of those in the future. Most of my maps are of cities I have lived in in Europe or of the West of Ireland.

If I ever start to dedicate myself to the language, I will maybe start a little Irish section of this site for learning Gaelainn, but that is far off. If I do, I think it would be cool to combine it with the maps and Hy Brasil concepts, and map out a layout of the island based on my interests, including a little Gaeltacht.
